Frequently Asked Questions
We take safety very seriously and have multiple measures in place to keep scams off our platform. Here’s how we protect our users from fraudulent job posts:
• Employer verification: New employers are verified to the best of our ability. We may confirm business emails or other details to ensure the company is legitimate before they can post jobs. This helps filter out bad actors from the start.
• Manual review of listings: Our team carefully vets each job posting to eliminate scams. We look out for red flags (like offers that don’t make sense). Any job that violates our guidelines or appears suspicious will not be approved or will be taken down quickly.
• No tolerance for fees or deceit: We strictly prohibit jobs that ask candidates for any form of payment. In South Africa, it’s actually illegal for an employer or agency to charge a job seeker money for a job opportunity. So if we see a post trying to make applicants pay (for training, equipment, or anything), we remove it immediately and ban the poster. Legitimate jobs on EmployTree will not ask you to pay to apply or to get the job.
• User reporting and community watch: We encourage our community to report any listing that seems fishy. If something slips past our initial checks and you spot it, please use the “Report Job” feature or contact us. We will investigate and remove any fraudulent or scam posts right away.
• Education and alerts: We provide safety tips to job seekers (for example, reminders that you should never share banking info or pay for a job). If we notice new scam tactics emerging in the broader job market, we alert our users on what to watch out for. Our goal is to empower you with knowledge so you can job hunt safely.
By combining these efforts, we aim to maintain an honest, scam-free platform. However, we also urge you to stay vigilant. If a job offer sounds too perfect or an employer’s communication seems odd (like they refuse to meet or only want to talk via WhatsApp and ask for personal details), use caution and let us know. We’re building EmployTree as a trusted space, and everyone’s awareness helps make it safer.
Posting a job on EmployTree is designed to be quick and straightforward for employers. Just follow these steps:
1. Provide contact inforamtion: Fill in the quote request form that indicates what information we require to get in contact with you for your job post.
2. Choose a pakage: Select the employer package and quantity that suits your needs (Seedling, Sapling, or Forest – see the next question for what these mean). If you’re just starting, you might opt for our basic plan to test the waters. Submit the request.
3. Fill in the job details: After Payment is made we will get in touch about the relevant job information about the position – job title, location, description, requirements, application deadline, etc. Be as clear and detailed as possible to attract the right candidates. You can also set things like whether it’s full-time or part-time, remote or on-site, and so on.
4. Publish the listing: When everything looks good, the job gets posted. The job might go through a quick review on our end (to ensure it meets our guidelines and is not spam or a scam) and then it will go live on the site. If your plan requires payment, you will be guided through that – for example, if you’re on a paid package, job will be posted after payment.
After posting, your job listing will be visible to all relevant job seekers on EmployTree. You can sit back and wait for applications to come in. (Pro tip: A well-written job ad with a clear title and description tends to get more qualified responses. While we can’t guarantee how many applications you’ll receive or how fast you’ll fill the position, a detailed post helps attract the best matches.)
These are the names of our tiered employer packages – each plan offers a different level of service to accommodate various hiring needs. In keeping with our tree theme, the plans reflect stages of growth:
• Seedling: This is our basic starter plan. It’s ideal for employers with minimal hiring needs or those who want to try out EmployTree. (For example, the Seedling plan might allow a single job post, with all features at no cost but is limited to one per customer and only valid for 14 days)
• Sapling: The Sapling plan is set up for small businesses or recruiters who have a few roles to fill. It typically includes standard features, typically just valid for 14 days.
• Forest: Forest is our top-tier, comprehensive plan. It’s designed for larger organizations or agencies that need to post many jobs or continuously hire. This plan offers the highest features – like job ads.
Each plan has its own pricing and feature set to ensure you only pay for what you need. You can start small and upgrade as your hiring “forest” grows. (For detailed differences and pricing, please check our pricing page or contact our team – we’ve kept pricing info out of this FAQ to keep things brief.) Rest assured, all plans, even Seedling, uphold our standards and come with support to help you hire effectively.
We’re confident that EmployTree can connect you with great candidates, but we cannot guarantee that every job post will result in a hire. No job platform can promise a 100% success rate, because hiring the right person depends on many factors – the attractiveness of your job offer, the availability of talent in that field, timing, and sometimes just the right bit of luck. What we do guarantee is that your job ad will be visible to our community of job seekers and that we’ll do our best to get it in front of the right people (through our site’s search and possibly social media). If you don’t find the perfect match immediately, don’t be discouraged. You might try adjusting the job details or salary, or broaden the criteria, and repost. Our tiered plans also allow flexibility – for instance, higher plans might give your listing more visibility. In short: We can’t promise the hiring outcome. That said, we’re here to support your recruiting journey and continuously improve our reach, so you have the best chance of finding that ideal new hire.
Absolutely – using EmployTree is free for job seekers. You can search for jobs and apply to as many positions as you want without ever paying us. Job platforms like ours are typically funded by employers who pay to post their vacancies, which is why candidates don’t get charged. We believe finding a job shouldn’t cost you money. There are no hidden fees to create a profile or submit applications. Our mission is to make job hunting accessible and stress-free, especially for first-time online job seekers, so you can focus on finding the right opportunity, not on payments.
After you submit an application, the next steps are handled by the employer. The company or recruiter who posted the job will receive your CV and contact details through the company who posted the add preferred application method. They will review your application (along with any others) and decide whom to reach out to. If you’re shortlisted or if they want to schedule an interview, they will contact you directly – usually by email or phone. Keep in mind that response times can vary: some employers reply within days, while others might take a few weeks or only contact selected candidates. EmployTree itself won’t send you status updates; we don’t influence the hiring process after that point. We do encourage employers to be responsive and respectful, but ultimately it’s their call. So don’t be discouraged if you don’t hear back immediately – you can always continue applying to other opportunities in the meantime.
EmployTree is a South African online job listing platform (think of it as a job board) with a nature-inspired theme. We connect local job seekers with employers by providing a space to list and apply for jobs. Unlike a recruitment agency, we don’t headhunt or place candidates, we simply bring opportunities and talent together in one easy-to-use website. Our goal is to help grow careers, which is why our brand is nature-themed (we believe in nurturing growth!). Whether you’re an employer with a vacancy or someone looking for work, EmployTree is here to simplify the hiring process in a fair and friendly manner.
No, EmployTree is not a recruitment agency – it’s a self-service job platform. This means we host job ads and applications, but we aren’t involved in the hiring decision or interview process. In other words, when you apply for a job on EmployTree, your application goes directly to the employer, who then handles the next steps. A job board’s role basically ends after you submit your application; it doesn’t conduct interviews or choose candidates for the employer. So while a traditional recruitment agency might personally match you to jobs or provide one-on-one guidance, EmployTree empowers you to search and apply on your own. We simply give you the tools and space to connect – the actual hiring is up to you and the employer.
Yes! EmployTree’s website is fully responsive and works great on desktops, tablets, and smartphones. You do not need to install any app – just visit our website on any device with an internet browser. The site will automatically adjust to your screen size, so you can comfortably browse jobs or manage postings on the go. Whether you’re at a computer or using your phone, the experience is the same: smooth and user-friendly. We know many South Africans rely on mobile devices, so we’ve made sure you can job-hunt or hire anytime, anywhere.
EmployTree is designed for people and businesses in South Africa. If you’re a job seeker anywhere in South Africa, you can use EmployTree to find and apply for local job opportunities. Likewise, any legitimate employer or recruiter hiring within South Africa can post jobs on our platform. We focus on the South African job market to keep things relevant and compliant with local regulations. (At this stage we don’t list overseas jobs or accept international candidates – it’s all about SA.) In short, anyone in South Africa looking for work or looking to hire in an ethical, effective way is welcome to grow with EmployTree.
